Chemical and Fertilizer Application
“Chem/Fert” is a key part of turf management
There is the opportunity to be involved in this process
Learn to apply fertilizer/pesticides to all playing surfaces
Practice equipment calibration and maintenance
Knowledge of disease identification and remediation
Moisture Management
An effective irrigation program is necessary for the survival and playability of the course
Gain an understanding on how an irrigation system operates properly and efficiently
Proper irrigation is the overall key to providing firm playing conditions and healthy turf
Projects
Have the opportunity to work with crew on projects
Irrigation / drainage repairs are project that occur often
Learn how to properly repair irrigation heads, lines, as well as diagnosing and trouble shooting these issues.
Management
Interns will have the opportunity to gain and develop management skills through teamwork
Interns are given the chance to lead small crews on daily tasks and help organize small projects
The Medinah Turf leadership will provide mentoring and management training lessons
Interns will get a chance to lead the morning stand-up meeting to get crews started
