Chemical and Fertilizer Application

  • “Chem/Fert” is a key part of turf management

  • There is the opportunity to be involved in this process

  • Learn to apply fertilizer/pesticides to all playing surfaces

  • Practice equipment calibration and maintenance

  • Knowledge of disease identification and remediation

Moisture Management

  • An effective irrigation program is necessary for the survival and playability of the course

  • Gain an understanding on how an irrigation system operates properly and efficiently

  • Proper irrigation is the overall key to providing firm playing conditions and healthy turf

Projects

  • Have the opportunity to work with crew on projects

  • Irrigation / drainage repairs are project that occur often

  • Learn how to properly repair irrigation heads, lines, as well as diagnosing and trouble shooting these issues.

Management

  • Interns will have the opportunity to gain and develop management skills through teamwork

  • Interns are given the chance to lead small crews on daily tasks and help organize small projects

  • The Medinah Turf leadership will provide mentoring and management training lessons

  • Interns will get a chance to lead the morning stand-up meeting to get crews started
