Internship Overview

SUMMARY

The Medinah Country Club internship program provides hands-on training for comprehensive golf course maintenance along with lessons on leadership. Expect a world class learning experience. The overall working environment: grounds, staff, equipment, and tools provides a robust platform to expand on academic disciplines studied at school.

The Club has an accomplished team of dedicated employees with many years of Turf experience that ensures knowledge transfer and mentoring opportunities.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Interns will be involved in learning, implementing, and supporting all key aspects around turf management.

Interns will learn concepts, skills, and techniques that pertain to the best turf practices across 54 holes.  

Interns will become part of a dynamic team that is goal driven, high energy, and dedicated to excellence.

Interns must complete standard paperwork with two forms of ID, pass a background check and take a drug test.

Interns are assigned a Superintendent and Course for daily tasks, scheduling, and training to kickoff the program.

Job Description

Interns will work on average 50-60 hours per week. 

Time off requests are provided to your direct supervisor and the course superintendent makes final approval. 

Schedules can change due to unpredictable weather events, changes in club events, or other insinuating circumstances hence flexibility is requested to have an “on-call” mindset.

The dress code is very important and Interns are expected to dress and groom themselves in accordance with acceptable business and professional standards. All shoes must be closed at the toe and heel for safety reasons, sandals are strictly prohibited. Your appearance on the golf course must make a positive impression.

Medinah will provide uniforms, shirts are to be tucked in and worn with khaki pants or shorts. Hats are provided and optional, we strongly prefer hats with the Medinah Country Logo. Rain jackets will also be provided.

Safety helmets and ear protection are available and recommended while operating heavy or loud equipment.

Headphones and other audio devices are ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED as they inhibit the sounds of machines and can be a safety hazard.
